AM I A BAD PERSON?

So the other night, we watched this Louis Theroux docu-program on Fred Phelps. You know, of Westboro Baptist "God Hates Fags" fame.

I had the expected reaction--feeling like I needed to explain to everyone around me that this guy is clearly deluded and has no concept of who God really is--even though everyone already knows this and doesn't think that everyone who believes in God is another Fred Phelps.

However.

Then, they got to the part where one of the church members was showing off some of their picket signs. He picked up this one that had a black-and-white drawing of Liz Taylor, on a flourescent background, and in giant text:

All I could think of is how much I wanted to get one of these for Michael.

WHAT'S COMING UP THIS WEEK - LILACS AND FROGS

So I spent quite some time trying to figure out where to plant this little white lilac tree that I have in a pot, and finally decided on a little place near the pond. Now, as things are starting to get leaves, etc., I notice that the pond is about half-surrounded by white lilacs. Well, I guess now there are more.

So.

Anyway.

I'd never actually seen frog spawn before. So every day, I've been going out to the pond and peering at it to see if there was any frog spawn. I'd see little bits of pond weed and say, "Mike, do you think that's frog spawn?" and he'd hem and haw and say he wasn't sure.

So yesterday I went out to the pond, and saw what looked like giant fish eggs on the surface of the water. Hard to miss. Now I feel silly.
