FINALLY!

I have finally found my camera battery, so I can post some photos of springtime in the garden.

It's cloudy today, and I haven't adjusted the images in any way, but I wanted to finally show you what is coming up in the back garden. Soon I will take some photos of the things in the front garden. Oh, and yes, the things I thought were peonies are definitely peonies. They haven't been divided in years, so they are HUGE and will need some attention in September.

At any rate, here is the view from my back patio door:

As you can see, the garden is a work in progress. I have several things in pots still that I can't put in the ground yet. For example, the tulips will really do better if I wait to put them in the ground until autumn, so I'm waiting. But things are starting to shape up. And that basket thing in the middle of the grass is a bit silly, but it made sense at our flat.

As you can see, the lilacs and apple trees are blossoming. I've planted a Japanese maple next to the pond. Here is a little closer:

I couldn't decide which view to use, so I'm using them both. The rabbit run is in the middle of the back section of the yard. It's now more of a ferret run.

I planted some hesperis matronalis last year from seed, and it's starting to flower:

It's in a pot in front of some tradescantia. That's the stuff with the yellow foliage. I love the yellow-leafed version of tradescantia--it has the most amazing contrasting bright purple flowers. Really striking.

Also blooming are the blue parrot tulips:

And the black parrots:

I thought I'd like the black parrots, but it turns out that I really, really love them, and have plans to buy bulbs as presents for everyone I know.

Oh, and last but not least, I mentioned the neighbour-taunting duck that a friend brought by. Mike has now mounted it on top of the garage:

Definitely a thing of beauty!

So...that's what's coming up this week in the garden!
