Elections, Yay!
When Bush "won" by a highly-suspicious narrow margin, he called it a "mandate," went on at great length about how "the people had spoken," and that the results proved that Americans thought he was doing a good job, etc., etc. I wonder what he'll have to say about this one.
I'm not happy about all of the election results--Schwartzenegger and Trent Lott (!?!!!) in particular, but overall it's fantastic. And I realise just how much I owe to George W. Bush, and to his buddies.
I have Bush to thank for converting me from political apathy. For making me not only mildly interested in politics, but someone who reads up on the issues, and feels passionately about going out to vote. The very idea that I would move from the country and still go through all of the paperwork, etc., to make sure that I could vote absentee is something unheard-of.
I actually got up early to check on the results of a MID-TERM ELECTION. Come on, nobody is supposed to care about mid-term elections.
So, thank you. Thank you, George W. Bush, and the entire Republican party, for being so corrupt and horrible that I no longer take my right to vote for granted.
