THE OFFSIDE RULE

Oh, and I finally understand the offside rule. For the longest time, everyone I talked to about it would just smile knowingly and say, "It's hard to explain." I became convinced that there *is* actually no offside rule--it's just this huge in-joke between everyone but me.

But now I finally understand it, and fully intend to nod knowingly and say, "It's hard to explain" the minute I'm asked about it.
